Ann is a visual artist based in Midwest of the United States, where she works out of a converted 100-year-old dairy barn.

She instinctually translates her experiences into songs, paintings, sculptures, and stories. She is heavily inspired by landscapes, science, space, and film. Most recently, her work has been inspired by the visuals of the movie Dune.

She recently returned to acting after a childhood spent assisting her parents in their small video production company and years of theatre acting. She played a principal role in a feature film last Christmas—”Silent Night in Algona”.

Her creative work is steeped in her formal study of psychology and is influenced by visual artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Jay DeFeo, Anselm Kiefer, Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, and Hilma Af Klint.

“Creating for me is the processing and translating of the human experience—how I follow the long curve of redemption and deepen my love and empathy towards myself and others.” It is from this idea that she derives her social media moniker “Sift Separate”.
